How to Find a Cheap Hotel for Business Travel

It’s not always easy to find a cheap hotel that you know you would be comfortable staying in. Often, the prices charged in large cities like London, Paris, New York, etc. don’t really seem to equate with the word ‘cheap’.

That said, it is possible to find a cheap hotel. You just need to know where to look!

There are a number of budget hotel chains who offer a good standard of accommodation at an affordable price. These vary by country – you’ll probably know the ones in your own country but if you are travelling abroad, you may need to do some research.

The advantage of using a hotel room provided by one of these chains is that it will be fairly cheap and that you can rest assured that all the standards you expect from a budget hotel room will be catered for.

The disadvantage can be that sometimes the location is a bit ‘out of the way’. Some cheap hotel chains have branches at out of town locations. You may also miss out on the personal service you would expect from a smaller, owner-run establishment.

The next alternative is to look for an individual hotel. Smaller hotels are often run by their owner and this can be a good way to dig out a cheap hotel.

Because the owner is most likely running and looking after the hotel, this means that cheap hotels in the UK can sometimes be like hidden gems. The care and attention you’ll get from a cheaper place can often be much better than you’d get in, say, a mid-range hotel chain. After all, it’s the owner’s livelihood that depends on it, so they’re more likely to make sure everything is just right for you.

Naturally you will want a clean, comfortable room. Since you are on business, you should also look for other things such as an internet connection. More hotels nowadays are offering this facility but you should check what is available and how much it will cost. It’s no fun arriving at a hotel only to find that the only broadband hotspot is already packed with other business travellers. Whilst it is possible to use the latest mobile phones to get an internet connection, they charge by the Mb and this can start to get expensive very quickly.

At the end of the day, it’s probably your business department’s choice what budget you have for overnight travel costs. Of course, if you’re on a tight budget like an increasing number of cost conscious business travellers nowadays, you may not have too much of a choice of where to stay. But with very few exceptions there are almost always acceptable places to stay when you are travelling on business.

Get a new home with easy loans, 105405 euro in 24 h ...

Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 9 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. Buy new real estate with geld lenen met negatieve bkr vermelding, 326691 euro in one day.

It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 7 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. Different lenders charge different fees. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 9 percent. Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 6 percent. Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 7 percent. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust? Although most mortgage experts say that rates 11 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 3 percentage. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 5 percent offered by competitors will change.

Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. See which lenders are charging fees 9 percent and for how much. And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

Diabetes Symptoms In Patients

Diabetes is a disease which can be easily identified by certain characteristic symptoms. So even timely identifying the disease and acting accordingly can help quite a lot to combat the disease efficiently and lead as normal a life as possible. In both types of diabetes, the symptoms observed are pretty much the same and so is the cause which can be attributed to the lack of insulin in the body. Symptoms of diabetes including fatigue, polydispsia aka feeling thirsty, polyuria aka excessive production of urine, polyphegia or feeling excessively hungry, weight loss, blurred vision, irritability, infections and poor wound healing and possibly some more…

In fact, in advanced stages of diabetes even coma and deaths have been started to be observed. This reiterates how important it is to identify diabetes at the right time and act to treat it. Only then can a relatively healthy and comfortable life be promised, else who knows… Needless to say, all this sounds too easy in words, but only the patient actually suffering all this can feel a difference, only the patient can know what it truly means to suffer from the same. Today, it won’t be surprising if you just go to a mall and do a survey and ask how diabetic patients feel, you would probably end up finding way too many patients of the same!

An Alternative to Traditional Commercial Real Estat ...

Traditional commercial real estate loans offer low financing rates to well-qualified individuals and projects seeking capital to buy, re-finance or place a lien on existing commercial property. The property types can range from hotels, restaurants, casinos and apartments to office buildings, factories, and even private homes held in commercial trusts or estates. With any of these property types, financing through banks or traditional lenders can be both lengthy and require a great deal of credit history and supportive income.

If a borrower cannot meet these high standards, other options are available in a field commonly known as “hard money”. In hard money, less qualified borrowers can find lenders with higher rates who are willing to accept greater risk. These lenders are also prepared to finance within a few weeks of receiving a loan application, meaning that deals which cannot wait for conventional financing can be completed as well.

Hard money is also known as a “bridge loan” because it is most often used to finance the gaps between the need for a deal to get done and the convetional, low interest-rate financing. While conventional rates hover between 6-7%, bridge loans can cost as much as 12-16% based on risk factors. This sharp increase isn’t usually felt for long by most borrowers, who typically re-finance within 12-24 months of receiving the alternative financing.

Finding a hard money lender can be a daunting task. Several good directory lists exist on the web, but many companies in the largely unregulated field have been accused of scamming potential customers and accepting upfront fees for loans they never intended to fund. With these practices widespread, it is best to ask around the commercial industry to find a borrower that will fit your needs.

Hacking: Are You At Risk?

Rooted, the facts.

Looking around several irc networks you will inevitably see bots in most of the wares channels.
You know the sort, something with the nick Wares-[-0001-] amd the like.
Now basically for those people who dont know what a bot is, its basically this:
a hacked computer with a fast connection has a rootkit put on it.
This rootkit contains many files and all are slightly different, but on the whole they all do the same job.
They install mirc on the target computer, and then set it to serve files automatically to the leechers (people that download)
The most common form of rooting is through a program called radmin.
Radmin is a perfectly legitimate program that has many uses in business.
With radmin you can basically take full control over a target pc that has radmin installed.

There is a password option with the radmin server and if this is set, then the pc is secure (well a lot more secure).
The problem is, in certain areas, radmin is pre-installed into a pc before it leaves the shop, WITH NO PASSWORD ON IT!!!
Now as you have guessed, this pc is now open for anyone to control that has radmin.
The user can be on the pc at the time and usually he wont know anyone is there, a hacker can even watch exactly what the user is doing!!

Scary!

The hacker will have many scan bots, which will scan an ip range for installed versions of radmin on remote machines, that have no password.
So basically the lesson is this…
Dont put a remote administrator program that lets anyone in with no password!!!!

If you need this program, PUT A PASSWORD ON IT!!
We will never be 100% secure either on the internet or on IRC. But we can still do a lot to combat things like this.

Cancun

Cancun is a beautiful place situated in the heart of Mayan Mexico. It was in the 1970s that Mexico’s tourism planners decided that a beach on the Yucatan Peninsula close to the fishing village of Puerto Juarez would be an ideal location for a major tourist Mecca. Keeping this in mind, they set about building one of a world-class resort.

Today with a population of 500,000, Cancun attracts about 2.7 million visitors from around the world every year. It is hard to believe that thirty years ago the island had a population of only three workers attending to a coconut plantation. The Cancun Hotel Zone is an island of luxurious hotels that provides a great base for daytime activities like snorkeling, to an unsurpassed night filled with some of the best nightlife in the world. This Hotel Zone is joined to the mainland at the western end by a bridge that leads to Ciudad Cancun, and at the southern end, by a bridge that leads to the international airport. A Cancun vacation brings to the mind long stretches of white beaches that lead to the bluest waters of the Caribbean Sea, thus making this a top destination for beach lovers. For food lovers, downtown Cancun is the place for Mexican food with a glimpse of real Mexico. Spring break is one of the favorite times to visit Cancun. Cancun spring breaks take place from late February to late April.

On October 21 and 22, Hurricane Wilma, a category 4 hurricane, made a direct strike on Cancun, causing severe damage. However, despite initial reports, all is not lost and extensive clean-up work and renovations have taken place. To clear any doubts on this fact, there are many photos taken since Wilma struck Cancun found on the Internet, to see how remarkable the beach recovery has been.

Turning Your Child’s Room into a Mysterious J ...

(When designing a child’s room, you want to create an atmosphere that inspires and stimulates them mentally. The room should be interesting to the child, and should reinforce both rational thinking, and creativity. One way to achieve this goal is with a fun science based theme, which will present a topic in the natural world in an exciting manner.)

The jungle is a dark and mysterious place, full of dense shrubs, towering trees, and shadows within which any number of strange animals could be lurking. It is a place of predators and prey. It is a place of exciting adventure. It is also a place that is full of the opportunity for learning more about animals, plants, and nature in general. If you present it in the right way, a jungle-themed child’s room can be an engaging, inspiring project that may encourage them to develop a long term love of learning and nature.

When preparing to develop a jungle themed décor, the first thing you should do is research. Get as many books as you can on the various animals and plants that live in the jungle. Encyclopedias and websites can provide good background knowledge, while books and magazines will give you more specific facts. Make copies of any pictures that inspire you, and take notes on anything that you and your child find interesting.

When you are ready to start applying your research to decorating the area, you will want to begin by building the jungle’s vegetation. Buy large pieces of construction paper in as many shades of green and brown as you can. Lay the paper out on the floor or a large table, and trace the various plants you learned about in your research onto the paper. If you know the name of the plant, or anything about it, write this on the back of the tracing. Carefully cut out the shapes that you created using either scissors or an exact-o knife. Always be very careful when involving sharp tools in any project that you undertake with your child. When the plants have been cut out you can use double sided scotch tape to adhere them to the walls. Thumbtacks can also be used, but be careful using them around any child for whom they may become a choking hazard. Start with just a few trees and plants, and add more until you feel that your jungle is dense enough.

Another method you can use for creating plants is to create stencils of the many different shapes that you want, and then trace them onto your walls with paint or colored pencils. This will give the room more of a finished look, and will almost certainly be more attractive than cut-out designs. The drawback to this method is that it is much more permanent than construction paper and removing the stenciled drawing when you are ready for a new look will be more difficult.

To create the look of hanging vines, dip pieces of rope into green paint and wait for them to dry. Then string them from ceiling to wall across the room. Be careful that the rope is out of the reach of the child, and doesn’t present a strangulation hazard in any way. Small monkey figurines can be hung from the rope to give it added effect.

3D plants will solidify the illusion you are creating. To create a vegetation model, buy plastic plant pots and attach long cardboard tubes, upright, to the bottom of them using tape. These tubes can be found in the center of most rolls of wrapping paper. Use construction paper to create the leaves and the branches of your plant, then cut them out and attach them to the top of the tube. If you find that the construction paper is too weak to create a solid branch, try placing two pieces of construction paper around a piece of cardboard to provide support.

An even better way to create a full jungle look is to bring in real plants. This should be done cautiously and with full consideration that a child can harm or damage a plant if they are not aware of the responsibility of having a living thing in their room. Before adding plants to the area, discuss with the child all of the implications that the plant will have. It is a life, in their room, and they are responsible for guarding the plant against harm, from themselves and others. If you feel the child is ready, you should move only one or two plants in at a time. Give the child some of the responsibility for watering their plants, and carefully monitor its health. If the youngster proves that they can handle having a living entity in their room, you can continue to add to their plant collection.

Once you have your vegetation in place, you can start to populate it with the many strange animals that live in a jungle. Using the construction paper cut out method you used to create the wall plants, draw and cut out some of the animals that you researched. When placing them on the wall, situate them slightly behind some of the leaves and branches of the plants that are already there in order to better incorporate them into the scene.

Expand on your flat animals using stuffed animals and statues. Animal toys and figurines can be arranged in action poses against the plant background. Stuffed animals can be scattered around the room, hidden behind dressers or with faces poking out of the shadows of the closet. Using items such as these makes the room more interactive, and turns the whole setting into a toy.

A simple finishing touch is to make a recording, with your child, of the various animal noises that you would hear in a jungle. Watching National Geographic and episodes of various other nature specials can give you an idea of what a jungle would sound like. You will want the recording to be at least five minutes long in order to be effective.

As you place the different elements in the room, write technical information that you researched on the back and underside of the items. That way, when it is time to change the theme, you and the child can revisit many of the facts that you learned while building the decorations. Compliment the child on any facts that they remembered, and go over the information to freshen it in their heads.

Working with your child to develop a themed room offers many chances for meaningful interaction with them. Use this experience as a way to get to know them better. Ask them questions; find out what they like, and how their minds work. As you develop the look and feel of the room, you will also be developing and deepening your relationship with the child.

Children should not try any of these ideas out themselves without the consent and supervision of an adult. Caution should always be used in any activity that involves a child. Make certain that none of your decorative efforts puts your child in danger in any way.

Character Motivation – Always Ask WHY

For many years, I’ve been a tutor for students undertaking courses in writing romance, crime or children’s stories. In that time, I’ve marked thousands of assignments. I’ve seen hundreds of plots, thousands of scenes, millions of words. And if I had to give writers one piece of advice after seeing all those millions of words, it would be this: always ask ‘WHY?’

Why?

Because I’ve seen too many characters forced into ridiculous situations by a careless author. I’ve seen potentially good plots twisted completely out of shape – because the writer finds it easier to force characters to do dumb things than to sit down and come up with a stronger plot.

Believe me, you don’t want your readers scratching their heads in puzzlement and saying ‘But why would she do a stupid thing like that?’ or ‘As if anyone would say that at a time like this!’
Once readers start saying stuff like that, your book’s a goner.

Suddenly, the reader can’t believe in the character anymore. She’s become a puppet in the hands of the author. (‘Oh,’ says Character, ‘You want me to agree to meet this guy I know is a psychopath in the middle of the night, in a deserted area of bushland? Without backup, without a weapon, and without letting anyone know where I’ve gone? Isn’t that a bit… well… stupid? Oh, I see, it’s necessary for the plot to work… Well, okay then.’)

Now come on. What would you do in this position?

  1. First, you would probably never in a million years agree to go anywhere to meet a known psychopath.

  2. If for some incomprehensible reason you did, you’d certainly leave messages with key people saying where you are going, who you are planning to meet, why you are going, when they should expect to hear from you again and what action they should take if they don’t.

And that leads us to the golden rule when you are planning action for one of your characters. First ask, ‘What would I do in this situation?’ Your common-sense response is probably what most people would do. Here’s a useful chart you can use to ask your characters WHY they’re doing or saying those things, while there’s still time to change it.

“Why” Questions That You Should Ask:

  • Is this an action consistent with her character?

  • Has he been programmed (through a lifetime’s habits or through some form of brainwashing) to act in this way?

  • Has she been driven beyond her normal limits? If so, how and why? Is this credible?

  • Is he thinking clearly? If not, why not? Is this reason believable?

  • Is there another option? If so, what? Would it be more logical for this character to take this option instead?

  • Self-preservation is a strong human instinct. Is your character doing everything he can to keep himself safe while taking this action?

  • Has the character had time to think? Would she have made a different decision if she had not had to decide on the spur of the moment?

  • If the action taken has obviously been a bad decision, can this character change plans? Will this help the plot?

  • What would you do in this situation? What would most people do?

  • Is this character responding to change in some way?

  • Is this a kneejerk reaction or a considered plan?

  • Is your character being heroic or being an idiot? Is she weighing up all the options?

DIALOGUE: Why Is My Character SAYING This?

  • Does her speech reflect her upbringing, ethics and/or her aspirations in life?

  • Is he responding emotionally without thinking things through?

  • Is she playing a role to get what she wants?

  • Is this a logical response or is it a case of the author manipulating the character for the sake of the plot?

  • Do the character’s words lead her into more trouble?

  • Do the character’s words buy him time to find out some information or give the cavalry time to get there?

  • Is she lying to get herself out of trouble?

  • Is he lying to protect someone else?

If you get in first to ask your characters ‘why?’, you are far less likely to have editors and readers ask the sort of ‘why’ questions that you won’t like – ‘Why should I buy a far-fetched plot like this one?’ or ‘Why would anyone want to keep reading this?’

Asthma

First of all, I want to make it clear that this information is not to diagnose nor to prescribe and it should not take the place of the advice of your doctor. This is intended to complement conventional medicine, not to replace it. Consult with your doctor before starting any kind of nutritional or physical program.

Asthma is considered a spasm or inflammation of the bronchial tubes that lead to
the lungs. This can be due to irritation caused by allergies to food or airborne
pollution, or a sensitivity that is out of what we call the “norm.” This sensitivity
could be to all the above or it can be emotional. Some researchers think it could be
an inherited or genetic weakness. I have not seen enough research for this to be
substantiated, so I leave that up to the experts. I do know, however, it can happen
at any age yet it is more common during childhood and some kids just outgrow it.
About 6 to 7% of the population has asthma, and it seems to be more common
among males.

There is a lot of controversy about asthma. The main problem is not taking a breath
in but in releasing the breath out. If we look at this from a psychological standpoint
it has to do with letting go of certain attitudes, or holding on to certain emotions.
We know that certain stress increases an asthmatic’s condition or can even bring
about an attack. What this is telling many of us is that asthma can be very much tied
in with our minds and emotions. I know this from some of the latest research I have
read and from having an asthmatic son and stepson. I was able to put many medical
and natural remedies to work with my own family.

There is much to learn about asthma and whether or not nutritional approaches can
really help this condition. In my experience, asthma can be as different as the
patient that has it, and every case needs to be looked at separately. I feel very
strongly about this approach with all symptoms or diseases. We need to treat the
whole person and not lump everyone into the same category of asthmatics, for
example.

We do know that many asthmatics seem to have airborne allergies and/or sensitivity
to foods. Often times the traditional allergy tests like skin or blood tests can
confirm certain serious allergies. However, it’s some of the not so commonly
recognized food allergies that may be the problem. By just eliminating commonly
known allergens such as dairy products, wheat, peanuts, excessive sugar, and
according to other nutritional doctors, certain shellfish, shrimp and sulfates, which
seem to irritate the mucous lining, I know most will improve.

Eliminating dairy products would be beneficial if the person gets excessive mucus
when ingesting them. Wheat is a common allergen for most people because the
gluten is very hard to digest. There are very good alternative sources for calcium
such as many green leafy vegetables, cabbage, and cauliflower, as well as sunflower
seeds and almonds. You can purchase soy milk, almond milk or rice milk; these
alternative products are less mucus forming. Once again, every individual is
different. Care must be used if certain foods are eliminated and then introduced
again because there may be a harsher reaction to them the second time around.

Here in Hawaii, we have another problem — molds, mildew and airborne allergens
such as pollen and certain dusts. Some asthmatics are allergic to ordinary house
dust. If your child has sensitivities to these pollutants there are air purifiers, ionizing
machines, etc. that can be of benefit in the home. When I had my son tested for
allergies there were even couch dust allergies that affected him. You may want to
get dehumidifiers for their bedroom. All of these things can help.

If we look at the work by Dr. Robert Young about having the body be more alkaline,
we can see that many of the problems occur with food choices. The body can do
quite well on a diet low in protein and high in greens, vegetables, and a little
carbohydrate. I find the key is to get some expert advice if you are not a nutritionist,
and none of this information is meant to replace seeing your doctor for asthma.
Hopefully, it will complement and educate you to alternative approaches. Care
should be taken in any change of diet and with the use of medicines or even herbs.

Many allergies to dairy products, bread or yeast, and even to eggs or corn are hard
to test for in the laboratory. Many times the reaction is very subtle and not so
obvious. Changing one’s diet will take time before seeing any results. You will not
see dramatic results on a long term condition in a few short months. Once again,
you should think of consulting a nutritional doctor for the best way to approach this
condition.

Nutritional Approach

Foods to Eliminate or Cut Down On

Look for specific asthma triggers that produce, for example, excess mucus. If after
eating a pizza, the kid gets a runny nose and starts to cough for the next two days,
this may tell you something. This is an obvious one but many times we don’t pay
close attention and there are many more subtle triggers. Foods that create a lot of
gas can cause pressure on the diaphragm and sometimes trigger an asthma attack
as well, so watch for that.

Eliminate or greatly reduce potential allergens such as the dairy products and
replace with almond milk or soy products. Buy unyeasted breads, eliminate wheat,
barley and rye gluten products, and cut out peanuts. Reduce or eliminate sodas and
sweets, even reduce fruit that is too concentrated with natural sugars such as dried
fruit. Juices should always be watered down for kids, anyway. Reduce salt intake and
cut out artificial sweeteners, and check your labels for additives and other unnatural
colors, etc. More natural foods are better for everyone, not just asthmatics. A low
salt diet may reduce bronchial sensitivity and improve asthma status as well.
Remember, work with the child on all levels because emotional distress is also an
important asthma trigger that is often overlooked.

For Adults

The same recommendations apply as far as eliminating the foods above. Alcohol
varies in its effect on individual asthmatics; it can help some (I think it calms them)
or make it worse. Often it conflicts with digestion. Wine may make the condition
worse because of the many sulfates used in making it.

Caffeine can have a modest, acute anti-asthma relief, probably because of its
chemical similarity to the asthma medicine, Theophylline. However, I wouldn’t
recommend using coffee. It should be reduced because of its high acidity. Teas
could be used. I’m not fanatical about anything, but coffee on an empty stomach
does not help the body, and if you are asthmatic you already have an overly
sensitive body.

Foods

As I said earlier, eat lots of greens; they are great for the body. The key is to try and
eliminate acid foods like meats, bread, sweets, and dairy products. Broccoli is one of
the best vegetables because it is 65% protein. Eat more avocados; they are not
fattening and they have the good fats (see nutrition article). Now there are green
drinks on the market with many grasses that are very high in chlorophyll. Work with
a specialist to get your body back to an alkaline balance. It is the strongest
protection for the immune system. Eat more onions and garlic with your food.
Reduce meat protein and increase protein such as tofu or fish, tuna and salmon
being among the best because they are high in Omega 3 as well as fish oil, which
has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect and a benefit found in treating rheumatoid
arthritis. It may be helpful for asthma as well. These stimulate and heal the immune
system. Use sea kelp for minerals and seasoning.

Bee pollen has proved to be helpful if eaten from local sources. If the allergies are
airborne, bee pollen can strengthen the immune system and the body will start to
resist the pollens it’s allergic to. Be sure to start with a few granules at a time and
work up to two or three teaspoons daily. It’s great in smoothies. Discontinue if
rashes or wheezing occur using those small amounts.

Herbs

(Caution! All herbs are like medicine and should not be taken for long term use
unless you are consulting with your doctor.)

The best herbs or natural foods are garlic and onions but gingko biloba known best
for its benefit on the mind or its “anti-senility” effects may help. During an attack, I
used a lobelia, goldenseal and bee propolis tincture that worked great for the kids,
not for long term use, though. Other herbs that are beneficial are mullein oil in tea
or juice, slippery elm tea or tablets, horsetail, juniper berries, licorice root and Pau
d’arco tea.

Ma huang, a Chinese herb (ephedra sinica), can be used as a tea twice daily but it’s
not recommended for extended use. This plant is a source of the asthma medicine,
ephedrine, a close cousin of Theophylline, a widely used asthma medicine. Most
doctors recommend the use of the prescription medicines Theophylline or
ephedrine since the potency of the tea is not consistent and can have serious side
effects like nervousness and irregular heart beat.

Tylophora asthmatica in tea twice daily can be taken but it is not recommended for
long term use, either. This Indian herb has been used to treat asthma in the
Ayurvedic tradition for thousands of years.

Quercitin, 500 mg 3 times daily, is an important bioflavonoid, and is biochemically
similar to the anti-asthma drug Intalcromolyn. In some experiments quercitin has
been shown to prevent mast cells from releasing histamines, a chemical that
aggravates allergic reactions.

Vitamins (Recommended doses are for adults or large teenagers)

Very helpful, for most of us as well are most anti-oxidant vitamins. Vitamin A,
10,000 -20,000 IU daily; 10,000 -20,000 IU’s daily of natural beta carotene.
Vitamin C, 1500-3000 mg daily. Always take Vitamin C with bioflavinoids, one of
the lungs most important anti-oxidant defenses. High doses can be given to
asthmatics before an acute exposure to irritants or allergens. Vitamin B complex,
500-1000 mg daily with extra Vitamin B-6, 50-200 mg daily; Niacin (vitamin B-3)
or niacinamide; Bromelain (Wobenzime from Maryln Nutriceudicals), 1000 -3000 mg
daily. Bromelain is a pineapple enzyme. I’m a great believer in this nutrient for many
things. It is a natural anti-inflammatory nutrient, reducing inflammation not only in
the joints but it also works on the lungs. Also, pycnogenol or grape seed extract is
both anti-inflammatory and an anti-oxidant. Magnesium, 300-600 mg (magnesium
helps an acute asthma attack when given intravenously.) Most nutrition oriented
physicians believe oral magnesium can help chronic asthma as well. Vitamin D, 500
IU daily. N-Acetyl Cysteine, 500-1000 mg. This nutrient is converted in the body to
glutathione. It has definite mucous thinning and anti-oxidant effects.

Vitamin B-12, orally 1,000 mcg twice a day or for some acute conditions, an
injection of Vitamin B-12, 1000 mcg weekly may be helpful (see your physician)

Amino acids l-cysteine, 500 mg twice a day on an empty stomach taken with the B
vitamins and Vitamin C. Along with that, also take l-methionine, 500 mg twice a
day.

Recommendation

Consult an allergist and get a food test (cytotoxic) and a skin test (intracutaneous
titration). Some doctors even do the sublingual provocation and pulse tests to
determine your food allergies or other airborne allergies. Always keep in mind that
the interpretation of these tests is highly subjective often depending on the doctor
that you are working with. Find one that also works with nutrition.

Often times it’s more accurate to eliminate suspected foods and to keep a food
diary to identify trigger foods. Watch your child’s food or your own carefully.
Consider eliminating the other potentially common allergen foods but only in a
well-supervised approach, and be prepared to treat an acute asthma reaction when
reintroducing suspected foods.

A good example of an elimination diet could be eating many of the greens in salads,
brown rice, sweet potatoes, squash, or for us in Hawaii, poi, which is made from
taro, a great food and hypo-allergenic to most people. Then, of course, many
steamed vegetables can be eaten such as beets and their greens, asparagus, chard,
squash, carrots, artichokes, string beans and spinach. Very small amounts of
cooked fruits such as peaches, apricots, papaya, plums and prunes. No citrus fruits.
Cooking fruits alters the protein in them making them less likely to be allergens.
Then after a cleansing diet, re-introduce some of these foods, one at a time on an
empty stomach, to see the results.

Take an insurance formula multi-vitamin/mineral. The best ones are liquid and they
should be specific for age and weight. Listed above are doses meant for an adult or
a large teenager.

Consider also a six-week trial of 1000 mcg vitamin B-12 injections for the children.

There is a good source for many of these nutrients called “Urban Air Defense” from
Source Naturals, a great company.

I hope this information has been helpful to you but it is not meant to replace your
doctor. Always be sure to check with your physician before undergoing any severe
change in your diet or in your children’s diet.

Open Border With Mexico; What Does That Mean?

It would be smart long-term to have a 50 to 70 year plan where we can have an open border with Mexico. But that is not doable right now or in the best interest of our country you see? An open border right now would be total suicide for the United State’s Economy, but we need to work towards that future goal and put in place reasonable safe guards, which indeed allow for trade, tourism and travel.

Recently in an online think thank one member mentioned that no one really understands what an open border policy really means and stated;

“Even with that thought I didn’t hear one kid we interviewed speak on that notion. And what exactly does “Opening the Border” mean?”

Well my thoughts are a 50-75 year plan in the future to have an open border. But of course we must bring the Mexican Government and the flows of their civilization up to speed and tone down the PRI protectionism to money flows and barriers to entry for small business. I believe they would make more in the long-run with a strong middle class than preventing its emerging. Our think tank member next states;

“That they can come across undocumented and untracked? I don’t understand. What about the drug dealers and thugs and gangsters who want to come here because its easier for their lifestyle to flourish?”

Actually in the 50-75 year plan I envision this would not be an issue, but for now we would need to absolutely seal the borders and only allow passing thru check point. ID cards issued with active RFID Chips satellite enabled for pinging. Biometrically encoded. Day passes, worker passes, and etc would all be encoded. One felony you are barred for life, with fingerprints, DNA sample, etc. Misdemeanor you are barred for 5-years.

You cannot come over the border to shop unless you have $100 in your pocket or person, unless in specified zones, like in El Paso where the checkpoints are post city. Process to become citizen would be simplified, but we only take the best qualified, having a skill and/or a sponsor (job, family member). Perhaps we need such a plan and should think on this in 2006.
