Alternative Emergency Medicine: Energy Healing ...

Emergency medicine and work in trauma centers is critical and intensive care at it’s best and most hectic. There is no time to consult the medical dictionaries, or wait for a specialist. Diagnosis and healing must occur immediately, alternative medical intuition and energy healing to the rescue!

Like an x ray machine, MRI, CAT, or PET scan, alternative diagnostic medical intuition for emergency medicine and trauma care triage nurses and doctors can save precious time identifying the extent, severity and location of the trauma injury. Medical intuition can determine whether a patient needs critical or intensive care responses. It is particularly effective in pediatric critical care or pediatric intensive care situations due to its noninvasive quality, lack of side effects, and intuition does not create further fear like some of the menacing diagnostic machines.

Healing Energy is also non invasive, and can be done on site, or at a distance creating the beneficial effects and results for the patient even while the physicians or pediatricians are using allopathic treatments and procedures. That’s why healing energy work is considered complementary to and integrated with traditional medicine.

Healing energy has helped stabilize heart rates, raise oxygen levels and even slow down and stop bleeding. It provides help for brain damage, stroke victims, cardiac
electromagnetic disorders, spinal cord injury, seizures, and chronic pain.

Only a few leading edge hospitals employ energy healing and medical intuitives in their emergency trauma centers and operating rooms. However this is the future for Emergency medicine.

Kokoro no Kaze: Does Your Soul Have a Cold?

Feeling sad? Have you lost interest in things you used to enjoy? Perhaps you’re suffering from a cold of the soul.

That’s the concept that has taken Japan by storm in the last five years, thanks to a culturally savvy marketing campaign launched by pharmaceutical companies to turn mild depression into an acceptable malady that a simple prescription can cure.

Anyone familiar with Japan will recognize that “kokoro no kaze” (literally “cold of the soul”) is a phrase guaranteed to resonate with the citizens of that country. Preventing and treating colds is practically a national pastime there.

Everywhere in Japan, you see people wearing gauzy surgical-style masks covering their nose and mouth. Although some may be wearing the masks to protect themselves from the latest bug, the majority of wearers are simply being courteous. In a nation lauded for its complex culture of politeness, the Japanese wear masks when they come down with a cold as a polite way of warning and protecting others.

In Japan, your dentist and dental assistants are likely to wear masks–not to protect themselves from your mouth breathing, but to provide a polite barrier so that you won’t be inadvertently subjected to their germs or the lingering odor of their sushi lunch.

Catching a cold in Japan is an opportunity to practice concern for others. How brilliant, then, that pharmaceutical companies have developed this new phrase to describe the symptoms of mild depression. Now, Japanese businessmen, housewives and students are running to their doctors in droves to get prescriptions for antidepressants. In a culture steeped in politeness, it seems that the same folks likely to cover their noses and mouths to protect others from germs are recognizing their obligation to protect their loved ones from their melancholy.

After living in Japan for five years and having a Japanese sister-in-law and four beloved bicultural nieces and nephews, I have a great fondness for that country. That’s why I am saddened by this new need to treat mild depression with drugs.

I’m all for turning to pharmaceuticals to help those who are severely depressed. I’ve lost two brothers to suicide, and even the worst drug on the market is better than that outcome.

Crown Princess Masako, a Harvard grad who surprised the world by agreeing to marry Crown Prince Hirohito and live behind the closed doors of the Emperor’s Palace, prompted a national debate on depression when it was announced recently that she was undergoing treatment for the disease. Though it doesn’t surprise us that the life of a princess and its accompanying expectations to bear heirs might be difficult to handle–we all watched the sad story of Princess Diana unfold–this is an unprecedented admission in Japan. The fact that the Imperial Family has publicly acknowledged Masako’s struggles will have a profound impact on the ongoing discussion of depression in a nation known for its suicide rate.

Preventing suicide? Good. Taking drugs for mild depression? Not always so good.

Does life in “advanced” countries like Japan create stress, frustration and sadness? You bet. Should a culture be treated, en masse, by drugs? I have to question that.

The me-too mentality is all too prevalent in a nation that prides itself on this phrase: “The nail that sticks up gets hammered down.” I hate to think of millions of Japanese taking drugs in order to deal with the expectations of their culture. I hate to think of ANYONE taking drugs for that reason. And yet, it’s becoming a remarkably common practice around the world.

Our folk wisdom tells us, “Feed a cold, starve a fever.” Traditional remedies may help a cold of the soul as well. We don’t run to the clinic every time we develop an itchy throat. We drink tea, take vitamins, get plenty of rest–in other words, we take care of ourselves.

Shouldn’t we try boosting our soul’s immune system first before choosing a pharmaceutical solution?

Recognizing sadness or dissatisfaction is positive. Dealing with the pieces of your life that aren’t fitting together is powerful and rewarding. Making decisions to improve your relationships or circumstances is empowering. Understanding our role as growing, changing humans and applying mindfulness to our greatest challenges strengthens and elevates us.

It feeds our soul.

Is it easy? No. Is it healthy? Yes. And letting our loved ones know of our struggle and our optimistic determination to work through it?

Priceless.

Face mask, anyone?

Taking Advantage of Weak Poker Sit and Go’s

I met a guy at a local charity room outside smoking a cigarette. I asked him how many people would be in the texas holdem tournament and he told me about the game. But what he told me is something I’ll have to take account for in my next trip. He told me that the players in the sit and are so weak that he doesn’t play the tournament anymore.

Firstly, the poker tournament had 40 players and only paid 5 places. Each sit and go has 10 players and pays 3. That is 30% payout in the sit and go, and 12.5% in the tournament. The blinds and starting stack are half that of the tournament. To me that is a good thing. You can play 2, 3, or maybe even 4 sit and go’s a night as opposed to one tournament. This guy confided in me that if you play tight and patient, you will cash. He also said that no one will fold top pair, so you will get paid off on any monster hand.

Sit and go’s also have a clearer strategy. There is an end in sight, and it makes a game plan much easier to execute. It’s like starting off at the final table with equal chip stacks. Though I made it to the final table of the tournament, I was one of the short stacks and had to gamble with a good ace for a 3.5x all-in raise. Unfortunately I was called by pocket jacks and I lost in 8th, before getting paid. Now I know, even though I will play this event again and again because the players are so terrible, the real equity is in the sit and go’s. It’s for less money, so I’m not personally risking as much, and it’s also probably viewed less seriously than the tournament, so the players are not concentrating as hard. I play online poker sit and go’s all the time, but with weak opposition guaranteed, these are the sit and go’s to be playing.

Green Tea prevents and fights the risks of Cancer, ...

Do you drink Green Tea?

Then you should read the information below.

Lately, green tea has been getting a lot of attention, recent reports and scientific studies found that green tea has the ability to reduce greatly the risk of many cancers and in some cases it has shown signs of reducing tumors. However, green tea has been around for thousands of years. In China and Japan it is used as a tonic that keeps the body in optimum conditions.

This is our topic for this issue of the Home Made Medicine Newsletter, we will dive into the secrets and properties and we will study green tea, to expose all of its properties. We will answer questions like what makes some teas cure illnesses, and what is the difference between a regular black tea and this wonderful green healing concoction.

Chances are you have already tasted green tea, it is a common treat in most Asian restaurants. What you probably did not realize is that you were drinking a powerful healing remedy. Green tea has been used for more than 4,000 years for medicinal purposes. Only recently, scientists are paying attention to this marvelous plant, as we mentioned above green tea can prevent cancer, but that is not all. Other researches have shown that green tea bolsters the heart’s resistance to cardiovascular diseases, increases longevity, detoxifies the body and boosts the immune system.

TIP: Green tea also prevents cavities.

Why does green tea have all these properties and black tea doesn’t?

Although green and black tea come from the same plant, it is the processing that sets them apart. Tea leaves contain an enzyme that causes the leaves to oxidate after picking. By steaming and heating the leaves, processors are able to stop the oxidation process. Black tea it is let to oxidate and it is submitted to several more possessing steps which causes it to turn dark brown, and sometimes red.

Unfortunately, this manipulation of the plant reduces and destroys compounds called polyphenols, present in the freshly picked leaves. These compounds are the secret healing weapon contained in the green tea leaves, because it is processed as little as possible, green tea retains all its polyphenols. Out of all the types of teas, green tea contain the highest levels of polyphenols.

What are polyphenols, and what do they do?

Polyphenols are a group of natural phytochemicals (plant chemicals). These phytochemicals are potent antioxidants, antioxidants are the substances that protect the body from free radicals, and free radicals are the reactive molecules that damage the body at the cellular level, causing cancer, heart disease and many other horrible diseases. (To learn more about antioxidants and free radicals read the article titled Antioxidants in our website).

There are primarily four types of antioxidants in green tea that stand out, which give it the properties that green tea is famous for. Many other nutrients can be found in green tea, vitamin C tops the list, containing ten times more than black tea. Also found in different levels are, vitamin B2, vitamin D, vitamin K and carotenoids (beta-carotine).

The wrong information, gives bad reputation.

Many years ago, there were concerns raised, which made people believe that drinking tea in general might interfere with the body’s absorption and use of iron, which in turns causes anemia. Further research has determined that tea does not increase the risk of iron-deficiency anemia.

Another concern that was raised was the seemingly high level of mineral aluminum some times found in tea, aluminum causes bone and brain disorders. Again further research, shows that the type of aluminum found in tea does not react in any harmful way in the body.

As far as we know, for thousands of years tea has been used without any adverse reaction or downside.

Green tea and cancer prevention

As mentioned before, green tea has a 4,000 year old reputation of health enhancing beverage, although this reputation has been dismissed in the past, modern epidemiologists have paid close attention the this plant, and they have found proof that many diseases are prevented by drinking green tea.

One of the researches was done on a region of Japan called Shizuoka, they concentrated in the area, because statistics showed that citizens of this city had a way below average rate of death from cancer, both men and women. A deeper study showed that in this tea growing region, its citizens drank more cups of green tea than the average Japanese citizens.

After this study, dozens more have taken place, some in Europe and some in the United States and the results only fortify early conclusion. Green tea reduces de risks of cancer.

I hope you like this article, please feel free to forward it to all your friends and family members it may save their lives.

Reduce Asthma And Breathe Free

Asthma can be a serous and often frightening condition that is typified by a tightening of the chest, wheezing and difficulty breathing. Asthma is made up of two underlying components: inflammation and constriction. During normal breathing, the bands of muscles that surround the airways are relaxed, and air moves freely. But in people with asthma, the bands of muscle surrounding the airways tighten and air cannot move freely. In addition, individuals with asthma often have airways that are inflamed, irritated and swollen. This can make it hard for them to breathe. This irritation can also cause the mucus membrane that lines these tissues to produce excessive mucus, which can further reduce the flow of air into the lungs.

The airways of people with asthma are extremely sensitive. The airways tend to overreact and narrow due to even the slightest trigger. These can include: emotional upsets and stress, upper respiratory tract infections, breathing cold air and even exercising too hard. Airborne allergens, such as bee pollen, animal dander, dust mold and smoke can also trigger an attack, as can certain foods or medications.

Asthma attacks can be both mild and severe. The severity of an attack, however, can escalate rapidly, so it is important to treat these symptoms immediately once you recognize them. In any case, it is important to work with your primary health care provider when you look to treat this health concern. Fortunately, there are a number of things that you can do to help reduce the severity or eliminate asthma from your life.

Recommendations for Wellness

To help control an attack:

Sit leaning forward or in a semi-prone position to help restore normal breathing.

Try placing a hot, moist towel over your chest to help relax your chest muscles and restore normal breathing.

To help reduce your chances of another attack:

Incorporate breathing exercises into your daily routine to help strengthen your respiratory muscles.

Keep a health diary. Use it to help you figure out what is triggering your attacks, then reduce your exposure to them or eliminate those things from your life.

Don’t smoke. Avoid perfumes.

Make a special effort to keep your environment allergen free. Get an air purifier. Dust and vacuum often. Change your home furnace or air conditioner filter regular.

Stop exercising if you start wheezing or feel an attack coming on.

Drink plenty of water to help thin any mucus build-up in the lungs.

Eliminate or reduce mucus-forming foods such as milk products, products made with white flower and refined foods.

Lobelia has a long history for relaxing respiratory muscles and reducing spasmodic coughing.

To help reduce asthma symptoms, including ginkgo biloba into your health care program.

Herbal combinations such as Nature’s Sunshine’s Chinese Lung Support can help to support and protect the lungs.

Herbs such as mullein, licorice root, marshmallow root or slippery elm can be taken to soothe irritated tissues.

Fenugreek and thyme can help to open the chest as it loosens & stimulates the gentle removal of mucus and phlegm.

Incorporate a homeopathic Asthma formula to help with shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing, tightness of the chest and wheezing.

Dance

Over the centuries, going even way back to our ancestors, dance has been used in a lot of ways, especially in worship and praise. The way dance has evolved throughout the years is just remarkable. Today dance is no longer used in just making the rain come and go or to give thanks to a good harvest. It is also being used to tell stories or in as far as interpreting a certain emotion.

Today we have a long list of dance forms; folk dance is also broken down into more classifications depending on where it originated or what it was used for. Jazz dance, which traces its history way back to the 1800s and 1900s, this repertoire requires sharp and strong movements. Contemporary dance which is used to refer to the repertoire that originated around the 20th century where instead of concentrating on technique like most dance repertoire do, it tends to concentrate more on the persecution of a choreography and usually requires more versatility than other forms of dances. Hip-hop dancing requires a lot of groove, and of course, ballet – which is known to be the root of good dance techniques. A trained dancer more often than not; has a good background in ballet. Ballet originated from the French court and used to be a dance for the royalties, which is why standing with vigor and upright is emphasized in ballet classes. Today ballet also has different forms, the Vaganova method, R.A.D method and the Cechetti method to name a few.

No matter what form of dance it may be. All dances require discipline and a good understanding of the human body and its function. A trained dancer is usually someone who has a very good knowledge in how to make use of his arms and legs, breathe right and count. The best thing about dance is that it not only keeps you fit but it makes a really good hobby at the same time.

Revolutionary Medicine: Shockwave Therapy for Chro ...

Stripped from the scenes from science fiction novels and films, shockwave therapy is a newage alternative to chronic pain sufferers. Utilized not only on humans for over 25 years for urologic and orthopedic conditions, shockwave therapy has even been introduced to veterinary and equine medicine as well. Helping individuals suffering from a range of conditions, including: golf or tennis elbow, stiff shoulders, calcaneal spurs, joint calcification, chronic tendon pain, and many other musculoskeletal disorders; shockwave therapy could possibly be the answer to help and healing.

To learn about Shockwave Therapy, I contacted Ms. LuJean Smith (Public Relations’ Director) of Siemens Medical Solutions. In an informal interview, I asked Ms. Smith a few questions about this revolutionary therapy and how it aids patients with healing:

[C. Bailey-Lloyd]: “Could you please tell me who developed and first began utilizing shockwave therapy?”

[L. Smith]: “German aerospace engineers realized the concept caused pitting or cavitation on aircraft parts. The first use of the technology for health care was for kidney stones in the 1970s.”

(*Through further research, I discovered that 98% of all kidney stones are treated with shockwave therapy, also known as lithotripsy.)

Ms. Smith explained exactly how shockwave therapy works:

“A shockwave is created by an intense change in pressure just as upi experience witht he sonic boom of an aircraft or the force you feel after a bolt of lightening. The shock wave is an acoustic wave with a quick rise in maximum pressure and a frequency spectrum ranging from audible to the far end of the ultrasonic scale.

Extracorpeal Shock waves used in medicine today are created as a result of electromagnetic, piezoelectric, or electro hydraulic generation.

Sonucur utilized an electromagnetic system that consists of an electromagnetic coil and opposing metal membrane. A high current impulse is released through the coil to create a strong magnetic field which causes a current in the opposing metal membrane. This current rapidly accelerates the membrane away from the coil producing an acoustic impulse in the surrounding water.

“The acoustic impulse is focused by an acoustic lens to direct the shock wave energy to the target tissue. The acoustic lens controls the focus size and the amount of energy produced at the targeted tissue. The mechanisms for healing are not fully understood…”

Additionally, Ms. Smith expressed valuable insight regarding scientific evaluation supporting shockwave therapy. According to scientific studies, shockwave increases vascularization in treatment regions (based on MRI results). Furthermore, shockwave impact reduces pain from nerves as confirmed through lab test results on isolated nerve cells. And, consistent with Gate-Control theory (Gate-Control therory predicts that massaging a particular area stimulates large diameter nerve fibres; whereby pain relief is achieved.), shockwave eradicated chronic pain memory via over-stimulation.

Siemen’s Sonocur Basic system has an articulating head that is placed directly onto the area of treatment, where adjustments are fine-tuned to the specific therapeutic focus. Once adjusted, preset pulses (shockwaves) are administered at low-energy levels; thus permitting anesthesia-free therapy.

When asked how long treatment lasts, Ms. Smith relayed that treatments generally last 15-30 minutes and is standardly administered over a course of three (3) treatments.

[C. Bailey-Lloyd]: “How long has this treatment been in use and how successful is it?”

[L. Smith]: “The treatments have been used in Europe since the early 1990s. Clinical Treatments in the US started in 2000 with full approval for Sonocur in 2002. Success rates vary due to physician, experience and patient conditions. Studies have shown patients with complete recovery, patients with partial recovery, and patients with little or no recovery. But in general, 65% – 70% of patients the results have been quite favorable.”

[C. Bailey-Lloyd]: “How effective is shockwave therapy as opposed to other conventional treatments?”

[L. Smith]: “Normal treatments for various tendonapathies include steroid injections, physical therapy, various orthopedic support devices and in chronic conditions, even surgery. Study data shows some chronic patients have responded to none of the aforementioned treatments and have shown complete recovery with ESWL treatments. (ESWL therapy is recommended for patients that have a history of at least 6 months pain and unfavorable results with at least 3 of the conventional treatments.)”

[C. Bailey-Lloyd]: “Are there any side effects to this treatment? Please Explain.”

[L. Smith]: “The 2 most common side effects reported were slight nausea during the actual treamtne (approx. 20% of study patients) and soreness or stiffness the next day after the treatment. (Much like one feels the next day after a hard physical workout.)”

Ms. Smith also told me that shockwave therapy is readily used in approximately 175 sites across the Nation alone. Primarily orthopedic, sports medicine and podiatrist physicians provide shockwave therapy services. Additionally, “…shockwave therapy is approved by the FDA in uses for Chronic Plantar fascilitis and medial or lateral epicondylitis.” Globally, “…shockwave therapy is utilized for tendonapathies, knees, shoulders, and treatment of Nonunion fractures.”

In closing, shockwave therapy has been proven to stimulate and accelerate human healing process. While research continues at multiple sites around the country, shockwave therapy is revolutionizing modern medicine and effectively demonstrates how to achieve overall health. Honey – Natural Treatment for Wounds and Burn ...

Honey is a highly concentrated sugar solution produced by honeybees. It is commonly used as substitute for sugar or a flavor enhancer. But other than that, honey is also effective in treating burns and wounds and it has been used for this purpose for many centuries. Now it is known that the secret of honey lies on its antibacterial activity.

How Can Honey Stop Infection?

We know that bacteria love sugar, but why most bacteria and other microorganisms cannot grow or reproduce in honey? Here are the reasons:

  1. Acidity – Honey is acidic, and acids prevent the growth of bacteria.
  2. Hydrogen Peroxide – When honey is applied as a wound dressing, it is diluted with fluids from the damaged tissue and combines with an enzyme added by the bee to form hydrogen peroxide, the same antiseptic found in drugstores. Diluted honey can serve as an excellent antiseptic because the naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide won’t harm the tissues and no scarring will occur.

Applying Honey as a Wound Dressing

  1. Usually, 20 ml of honey (25 – 30 g, 1 ounce) is enough on a 10 cm X 10 cm (4 inch X 4 inch) dressing. The honey dressings should be cut to a size that extends beyond the edges of the wound.
  2. To prevent honey oozing out from the wound dressing, waterproof dressings are needed. Absorbent dressings are not recommended as they soak the honey making it less effective. Adhesive tape or bandages can be used to hold the dressings in place.
  3. It is better to spread the honey on the dressing first before applying it on the wound area.
  4. If there are abscesses in the wound area, fill it with honey before applying the dressing pad, so that there is honey in contact with the wound.
  5. The amount of honey required on the wound depends on the amount of fluid it exudes. Honey will be useless if it is diluted by large amounts of fluid. Also the frequency of dressing changes depends on how fast the honey is being diluted by fluid.
  6. On deeper infections, more honey is required to get an effective antibacterial activity.
  7. Daily dressing changes up to three times daily may be needed.
  8. Exudation of fluid should be reduced after few days use of honey dressing. During this time, less dressing changes will be needed.

Honey Used as Medicine

Below are some common problems which can easily be prevented from the use of honey:

  1. Allergies – Raw honey is an excellent treatment for 90% of allergies.
  2. Anemia – Honey is a great blood enricher. The darker the honey the better. Take 1 ripe banana with 1 tablespoon of honey, 1-2 times a day.
  3. Appetite – Honey improves appetite in children suffering from appetite loss.
  4. Conjunctivitis – Dissolve honey in equal amount of warm water. When cooled, apply as lotion or eye bath.
  5. Fatigue and exhaustion – Honey is the best ingredient to remove tiredness and fatigue almost instantly because it is easily absorbed in the blood. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of honey in warm water or quarter honey balance of water in a jug and keep in the fridge.
  6. Headaches and Migraine – Take 2 teaspoons at meals to prevent headache. For migraines, take 1 dessertspoon of honey dissolved in a half glass of warm water. Repeat in 20 minutes if migraine persists.
  7. Heart Diseases – Honey can fight against cholesterol. Pure honey taken with foods daily instead of sugar relieves complains of cholesterol. This is helpful for old people, especially sufferers of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and others.
  8. High Blood Pressure – Take mixed 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of ginger juice and 1 teaspoon of cumin powder 2 times a day.
  9. Insomnia (Sleeplessness) – Take 1 teaspoon of honey mixed in lukewarm water or milk and drink before going to bed.
  10. Poor Digestion – Mix 1:1 honey with cider vinegar and dilute with water.
  11. Skin – Honey is a good moisturizer. It also helps in reducing skin problems like pimples.
  12. Sore Throat – Let 1 teaspoon of honey melt in the back of the mouth and trickle down the throat.
  13. Stomachache – Take 1 teaspoon of honey, juice of a lemon with a hot glass of water first thing in the morning.
  14. Teeth – Although honey is sweet, it helps to maintain and protect teeth.

Important: Honey contains a certain bacterium that might be harmful in infants; it should never be fed to children younger than one year old. Otherwise it could lead to food poisoning.

Now you know that when honey is applied properly to a wound, it can promote healing just as good as or often better than, over-the-counter ointments and dressings. It is also a great preventive medicine on common ailments.

Elegant Wedding Favors Add to Memorable Weddings

At their weddings, most couples offer stylish little gifts called wedding favors to their guests while celebrating their love and unity. A wedding favor is an elegant gesture, expressing the couple’s gratitude to their guest for attending their wedding.

As far as creating memories of a wedding is concerned, wedding favors have to be as important as the artistic invitations and thank-you notes. It is a pity that sometimes, rather than the couple’s choosing the wedding favors, this significant component is left in someone else’s hands. Although wedding favors can be thought of as minute details in a wedding, they are what will be left in the families’ and friends’ possessions as mementos of the happy day for a long time to come.

From the various weddings I attended, I kept an I.D. button, several key chains, a bunch of silk daisies, candles, a bud vase, a tiny photo frame, a bottle opener, a wooden treasure chest box with its candy eaten, a demitasse spoon after I used the small package of espresso coffee that came with it, small sachets of dried flowers, and glass coasters with the names of bride and groom embossed on them. In addition to these treasures that could remain, the couples gave me a lot of chocolate candy, cookies, and even cupcakes. The truth is, I don’t remember what I ate, but when I look at each souvenir, I remember the source.

Giving wedding favors probably started a long time ago when the bride and the groom wanted the people who witnessed their wedding carry an extra proof of it with them also. Wedding favors, to this day, serve the same purpose as proofs of a union as well as being keepsakes.

The favors you want to offer to your guests have to represent you as a couple while promising longevity in some way. For my son and daughter-in-law, since their wedding theme was the beach and the dolphins, their wedding favors reflected their theme. After five years of their marriage, our families and friends still keep their dolphin shaped candles, tiny plates with dolphins on them that once had held chocolate candy, and the small china statuettes of two dolphins leaping.

If you decide to give edible wedding favors, it is a good idea to have the favors in reusable and stylish containers, so the guests can still keep the containers as reminders of your special day. If you want your guests enjoy your wedding favors as long as they can, make sure that at least some part of the favor serves a purpose or is usable in some way. Otherwise, it may be left on a shelf to later make an appearance at a garage sale or in a Goodwill store.

Although there are no set rules for giving wedding favors, the presentation of the favors has to be taken into account. Their packaging style and colors have to complement your décor of the reception, since they will most likely be set on the tables with the centerpieces. If your budget allows it, personalizing the items is a great idea, since most items like plates, pencils, pens, ornaments, and notepads can be stamped with your initials and your wedding date.

If you can afford it, stylish and expensive favors are as important as the other components of a wedding. If you are on a budget, however, even homemade favors can look pleasing to the eye and become keepsakes for many years to come. What counts, after all, is the thought behind them and the expression of your gratitude to your guests.
